Welcome back, everyone! It’s week 39 on my Mjaro journey, and I’m excited to share my latest update with you. As many of you know, I’ve been navigating the ups and downs of this experience, and this past week was no different. After a brief illness—and a week off—I returned to my routine at a 14-milligram dose. Initially, things weren’t quite clicking for me, but a day later, I felt a shift, and by Sunday, I enjoyed good appetite suppression. I then switched down to 12 milligrams and have been feeling fine ever since.
This week also brought a small bump on the scale—half a pound, to be precise. And you know what? I can absolutely live with that! Why? Because I indulged a bit over the weekend, treating myself to some delicious food while watching Paul Smith perform in Manchester and enjoying a big roast dinner with my family on Sunday. It was a time for celebration and togetherness, and I have no regrets. The beauty of this journey is that it allows for flexibility in enjoying life’s moments without derailing one’s overall progress.
Being on Mjaro, I’ve found that I don’t have to be overly restrictive. Instead, this medication provides enough appetite suppression for me to maintain control without feeling deprived. And let’s be real—enjoying good food with people we care about is part of living well!
Finding My Rhythm
After my culinary adventures, I felt the need to slightly adjust my dosage schedule. I dosed a day early this week, moving at my own pace with confidence. Following last week’s higher dose gave me a boost, and I’m now at 12.5 milligrams. It’s all about finding what works for you, and I’ll keep listening to my body. I’ve also pre-ordered my next pen, hoping to experiment with a slightly higher dosage. After all, a little experimentation in your wellness journey can lead to powerful insights about what you need.
One of the most reassuring aspects of my experience has been my lack of noticeable side effects. Many people worry about issues like nausea or digestive upset when starting new medications, but I’ve been fortunate. I’ve had none of the typical side effects people often mention, such as constipation or those ‘sulfur burps’—though, let’s just say that flatulence is universal! Feeling this good gives me hope and enthusiasm to keep pushing forward.
It’s important to acknowledge that every wellness journey has its fluctuations. There will be peaks and valleys; that’s just part of life. For anyone delving into a similar path—whether it’s about weight loss, fitness, or health improvement—it’s essential to maintain resilience. There will be challenges, and it’s completely normal to experience plateaus, particularly when you’ve lost a significant amount of weight, as I have.
Celebrating Non-Scale Victories
Speaking of progress, let’s touch on something that often gets overlooked: non-scale victories. This week, I’ve noticed a remarkable change in my thighs. It appears that as I shed pounds, it’s my legs that have especially benefited, rather than just my belly area as one might expect. They look noticeably leaner! Next week, I plan to take measurements to see how they’ve changed since February. It’s these tangible changes that remind us we’re on the right path—even when the scale might tell a less favorable story.
In addition to weight fluctuations, I’ve been focusing on incorporating more exercise into my routine. Being active is not just about burning calories; it’s about celebrating what our bodies can do. Whether it’s going for walks, trying a new fitness class, or simply stretching at home, moving is crucial. And let’s not forget to appreciate the small changes, too—like how our clothes fit differently or how we feel more energized throughout the day.
Ultimately, this journey is about more than just the numbers on a scale. Whether you’re starting out or well along the path, it’s essential to embrace the experience as a whole, including the joys and the challenges. Keep moving forward with kindness toward yourself, and remember that progress can be multi-faceted. As you look to enhance your wellness journey, take each week as it comes and focus on all the rewarding aspects, not just those that are measurable.
“The journey to health and wellness is like a dance. There are steps forward and occasional backsteps, but the rhythm is what keeps you moving.”
Thanks for checking in with me on week 39. Remember, we’re all in this together, ready to support each other on our health journeys—one step at a time.
